Maison Margiela
MM6 Coat
380€
Maison Martin Margiela MM6 Coat - early 2000s.
Sage cotton-linen canvas, single-breasted. Point collar, patch cargo pockets at hip, shell buttons, unlined. Lining annotation reads X-LONG.
The fabric is the piece. A single red stripe runs through the weave, built into the cloth itself. The kind of stripe you find in French grain sack linen or industrial torchon canvas. Margiela cut the pattern so the stripe traces the center back seam and sleeve seam exactly, turning a utilitarian textile into a structural decision.
A quiet but strong example of the house’s design language — less about statement, more about construction, proportion, and intent.
