FW23 Luxor Heeled Silver Ankle Boots

Rick Owens founded his label in 1994 and makes his collections in Italy. FW23 was titled “Luxor”. The menswear show took place in Paris in January 2023. Models walked in tall boots on steel catwalks through fog. The collection's idea was reduced architectural shapes with a hint of 70s pseudo-mysticism, which matches the clothes: mostly black, sharp at the shoulders, and built from simple forms.

These boots are part of that world. The leather is soft and grainy, and the toe is cut square. A wide strap wraps the ankle, and elastic panels on both sides make the boot easy to pull on, with a loop at the back to help. The heel is the main feature. It's a faceted block that tilts and flares instead of stacking straight down, so the boot reads as a single shape from every angle. They look best under baggy or distressed denim, where only the toe and heel show.
