D&G SS05 Honolulu Embroidered Jeans

A holiday postcard, stitched onto denim that looks like it's already been through the trip.

Spring/Summer 2005 was D&G's Hawaiian collection. Palm trees, hibiscus and souvenir-shop imagery turned up all over the show, and the Honolulu jeans were one of its signature pieces. The idea is simple: take a pair of beaten-up jeans and cover them in vacation embroidery.

Here, the washed blue denim is heavily distressed, with worn patches across both thighs. Pink and white hibiscus flowers and clusters of green palm trees are embroidered down the legs. A pink dragon-like creature with a small white bird beside it sits low on one leg. A red banner with "Honolulu" in script runs near the hip. Brass studs line the waistband and the front pockets, which gives the beachwear theme some edge.
