Balenciaga
Paris, 1937
Founded in San Sebastián, moved to Paris in 1937. Under Demna, the house took on the street.
Cristóbal Balenciaga opened his first house in San Sebastián in 1917 and moved to Paris in 1937. His cutting reshaped the silhouette: the balloon skirt, the sack dress of 1957. He closed the house in 1968.
Demna, creative director from 2015 to 2025, took it onto the street. The Bazar shopper borrows the shape of the plastic market tote and makes it in leather.
